Niagara Whirlpool walk

Along the river there are sets of rapids.

The Whirlpool viewed from the top.

There are lots of helicopters around for rides. The hostel owner told us that when people commit suicide over the falls (which apparently happens quite a lot), they end up at the whirlpool, and the helicopters have a technique of tilting their blades over the water to blast the bodies to the shore.
We walked down to the beach behind the helicopter in this photo.

The trek down through the forest included some pretty steep and dodgy bits.

The view from the beach

We watched jetboat rides that take people through the rapids, and the cable car over the whirlpool.

A lot of driftwood gets washed up on the beach from the forests all round the rivers.
